María is a material-led product and furniture designer working at the intersection of ceramics and wood. Trained in product design in Mexico and now based in London, her practice explores how contrasting materials can support, balance, and transform one another by challenging assumptions about fragility, strength, and function.

 

With professional experience in architecture, interiors, and gallery work, she combines technical precision with experimental making, creating objects that are both functional and symbolic. Her work positions materials as storytellers of place, memory, and cultural identity, while embracing sustainability through simplified material choices and natural joints.

During her MA at Central Saint Martins, María developed a collection that redefines perceptions of strength and interdependence by inverting the roles of ceramic and wood. Her ambition is to position contemporary Mexican design within a global context, producing limited-edition collections and collaborative projects that bridge tradition, experimentation, and cultural storytelling.
